DBT ePROMIS: login, calls, and how to apply.
ePROMIS (dbtepromis.nic.in) is the Department of Biotechnology's online portal for submitting and managing research project proposals. What you do on ePROMIS
One login covers the whole lifecycle of a DBT project, from first submission to final report. Exact forms and screens change between calls - confirm against the live portal.
Submit new project proposals
Respond to a DBT call for proposals - fill the structured online form, attach your technical proposal and budget, and route it for institutional forwarding before the deadline.
Manage sanctioned projects
Once funded, the same login is used to file fund-release requests, submit progress reports and utilization certificates, and request equipment / staff changes.
Track status
See where your proposal sits in the review pipeline - submitted, under technical/financial evaluation, recommended, or sanctioned - without emailing the programme office.
Maintain your investigator profile
Your PI profile, qualifications, publications and ongoing-projects list are reused across calls, so later submissions are faster.
How to submit a DBT proposal on ePROMIS
- 01Go to the official portal at dbtepromis.nic.in. New applicants register as an Investigator (PI); existing users log in with their registered email and password. Use the 'forgot password' link on the portal itself if you are locked out - GrantSetu cannot reset portal credentials.
- 02Complete / update your PI profile - qualifications, current position, institution, and ongoing projects. An incomplete profile blocks submission on many calls.
- 03Open the active call for proposals from the call list and read the scope, eligibility and the prescribed budget heads in full before you start filling the form.
- 04Draft your budget in the DBT format (Manpower, Consumables, Equipment, Travel, Contingency, Overheads). Our free budget builder gives you a clean first draft you can transcribe into the portal.
- 05Upload the technical proposal, budget and required certificates (endorsement, no-duplication, ethical/biosafety clearances where applicable), then route for the Head of Institution / authorised signatory forwarding.
- 06Submit before the deadline and save the acknowledgement / proposal ID. Proposals not forwarded by the institution in time are treated as not submitted.
Frequently asked
What is DBT ePROMIS?
ePROMIS (e-ProMIS, Electronic Project Management Information System) is the Department of Biotechnology's online portal at dbtepromis.nic.in. Principal Investigators use it to submit project proposals against DBT calls and to manage sanctioned projects - fund requests, progress reports and utilization certificates.
How do I log in to DBT ePROMIS?
Go to dbtepromis.nic.in and use your registered email and password. First-time applicants register as an Investigator. If you have forgotten your password, use the portal's own 'forgot password' link - only DBT/NIC can reset portal credentials, not GrantSetu.
Where do I find the current DBT call for proposals?
Active calls are listed inside the ePROMIS portal and on the DBT website. GrantSetu also tracks open DBT and BIRAC calls and links each one straight to the official notice - see the list on this page.
What documents do I need to submit a DBT proposal?
Typically a technical proposal, a budget in the prescribed format, your PI profile/CV, an institutional endorsement / forwarding, a no-duplication declaration, and any ethical, biosafety or animal-ethics clearances relevant to your work. Always confirm the exact checklist in the current call.
Is GrantSetu the official DBT portal?
No. GrantSetu is a discovery layer that aggregates and links to official DBT / BIRAC calls. All registration, submission and account actions happen on the official portal at dbtepromis.nic.in. Verify amounts, eligibility and deadlines on the official notice before applying.
